What Is Marine Cargo Insurance?
Marine cargo insurance is a type of insurance that provides coverage against loss or damage that may occur during the transportation of goods and valuables via a carrier. The coverage begins when the goods are handed over to the carrier or loaded onto the vehicle and ends when the goods are delivered to the recipient. In international transportation, if the recipient has not taken delivery of the goods, the insurance will remain in effect for goods stored in customs warehouses for up to 30 days for air transport and 60 days for sea and land transport.

Marine cargo insurance is divided into the following four main types:

  • Commodity Cargo Insurance

  • Valuables Cargo Insurance

  • Hull Insurance

  • Liability Insurance
